"about.full": "Born in 2001 around four groups, later joined by a fifth (Combi Drivers, Skamuraï Munchies, Expressure, Mockingbirds, and Happening Leek), the FriskyFlexFellow animated the Brussels ska & punk scene for seven years with well-attended concerts and two self-funded compilations.\n\nThe FriskyFlexFellow consists of about ten concerts (the FriskyFlexShows) and three compilations (Stœmp #0, #1, and #2) in the pure DIY tradition, without external funding, self-promoted, made (sometimes tinkered) by our own hands.\n\nFrom the first FriskyFlexShow at the Spaceship (October 19, 2001), the audience was present in large numbers and the venue was full, and this would be the case for all others. After launching a prototype (Stœmp #0), the collective produced its first compilation in 2003, Stœmp #1, featuring 3 tracks from each group. Stœmp was distributed during an event concert, given free with the entry ticket.\n\nInitially focused on the collective's groups and limited to Ska/Punk, the events (Botanique, Magasin 4, Atelier 210, Kultuur Kaffee...) as well as the second compilation opened up to other local and international formations in more varied styles (The Moon Invaders, Sebi Lee, Skarbone 14, Wake n' Bake (FR), P.O. Box (FR), Smooth Lee, 13K...). The collective strength of the FriskyFlexFellow also allowed its members to play on the biggest Belgian stages, from multiple youth centers to Esperanzah! and the Dour Festival, and to share performances in several European countries.",

"band.combi": "Self-proclaimed leaders of \"Snobcore\", the five rascals of Combi Drivers (formed on the outskirts of Brussels) energised the punk-ska scene from 1999 to 2005. Their sound blends soft-core, melodic punk and ska-punk, showcased first on their demo Snob Purée (2000) and then across five compilations: Sofa (2001), Goin' Everywhere Fast (2002), Stoemp #1 (2003), So(n)'Nord #2 (2004) and Stoemp #2 (2006).\n\nBut it is on stage that they unleash their full energy — with over 60 concerts to their name across Belgium, France and Germany, sharing bills with the likes of King Prawn (UK), 40 Winks (IT), Less (UK), The Moon Invaders, Carving (FR), Joystix, Lawstreet 16, Wake n' Bake (FR), Nervous Chillin', Skarbone 14…",
"band.skamurai": "Originally from Brussels, Skamuraï Munchies first made their name with a punchy 2-tone ska style. The lineup then expanded, and the sound evolved rapidly. They integrated new production modes drawing on electronic influences — from drum & bass to dubstep — creating a singular sonic universe that some critics of the era compared to \"a creature escaped from a sound laboratory\".\n\nAlways experimental and unpredictable, Skamuraï Munchies have performed in a wild range of situations: from the barge Fulmar 1913 to the Botanique, from the Fête de la Musique with Vincent Venet to the Dour Festival, from Koninginnedag to the closing night of a legendary squat in Alkmaar (NL).",
"band.mockingbirds": "With 9 musicians — guitar, bass, drums, keyboard, vocals, 2 trumpets and 2 saxes — Mockingbirds are Brussels's very own Big Band, blending the brass melodies of ska with surf rhythms and raw rock energy.\n\nIn 2003, their self-produced debut album sold over 1,000 copies. In June 2007 they returned with a second album of equally irresistible melodies: Please Stop Eating Mockingbirds. With over a hundred concerts between 1999 and 2010 — mainly in Belgium but also in France and Luxembourg, including the album-launch event at the Orangerie (Botanique) — the Brussels band has had audiences of all ages dancing with their inexhaustible energy.",
"band.pigeons": "Steadily bringing more and more oomph to the local scene in Brussels, The Pigeons play a very punchy take on ska & reggae. The band gathers musicians from a lot of local bands that have kept the scene here alive since the early 2000's, namely The Mockingbirds, Pepperseed, Jammin' Troopers and more...",
